Dr Kohli’s Muscle and Joint Pain Oil is a poly herbal topical formulation for the management of pain associated with rheumatism (arthritis, back ache), sprains and inflammation.

Dr Kohli’s Muscle and Joint Pain Oil contains more than a dozen herbal ingredients from west and east to cover wider spectrum of topical pain relief. Combinations of herbs are carefully selected considering its efficacy and safety.

Sesame seed oil is chosen as carrier oil which has been used from thousands of years in topical Ayurvedic preparations.

Pain can be caused by a variety of situations such as accidents, musculoskeletal disorders, improper lifting, bending, sports activities, and misalignment of the vertebrae of the spine, disease and insufficient blood flow. Conventionally, chronic painful inflammatory conditions are treated with systemic NSAIDs, which have substantial risk of adverse events, on gastro intestinal, renal and cardiovascular systems. Various clinical reviews have proved that topical analgesics are useful in treating certain chronic and painful inflammatory conditions and offer short and long term safety.

Direction of Usage: Adults and Children over 12: Massage into affected area until completely absorbed, 4 times daily for minimum of 1-4 weeks.


Ingredients:
Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum annuum) Capsaicin in Cayenne Pepper is well known to relieve pain when rubbed onto muscle and arthritic joints according to the results of a double blind study. It does this by depleting the nerves of a pain-mediating neurotransmitter known as substance P.

Black Pepper (Piper nigrum) is a useful combination in this preparation. The therapeutic properties of black pepper oil include analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-toxic and rubefacient. The powerful warming properties of black pepper make it extremely beneficial to all kinds of aches, pains, muscle and joint stiffness and even temporary paralysis, as it stimulates the circulation and dilates the blood vessels.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is one of the ingredients in our preparation. The use of Ashwagandha in Ayurvedic medicine extends back over 3000 to 4000 years. According to the Ayurvedic point of view, Ashwagandha oil is specific for vata disorders associated with dry skin, muscular spasms and pain.

Arnica (Arnica Montana ) Topical use of this herb is well known to soothe sore muscles and inflammation due to sprains, bruises, and wounds. Arnica is great for swelling and for the relief of arthritis, muscle, and joint pain. Arnica has also been seen to be effective in the treatment of bursitis. Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursae, which are fluid filled sacs found between the bones and the tendons and muscles near the joints.

Juniper (Juniperus communis) Juniper belongs to a family of Cupressaceae. The oil extracted from Juniper is extensively used in Aromatherapy as it strengthens the various nerves of the body. The oil extracted from it is
of great use in treating Rheumatism, Cellulite and Gout.

Nettles (Urtica dioica) are a potent herb with a long history of use. Stinging nettle has been used for hundreds of years to treat rheumatism (disorders of the muscles and joints). A German study shows that hox alpha, an extract of stinging nettle leaf, contains an anti-inflammatory substance that suppressed several cytokines in inflammatory joint diseases. Stinging nettle is rich in chlorophyll, phosphates, ormic acid, histamine, volatile and resinous acids, tannins, glucoquinine, iron, calcium, potassium, silica, vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin E.

Bishop weed (Carum Copticum) oil is another ingredient which is used from centuries in India both in Ayurvedic and Yunani preparation. One of the active components of bishop weed is Thymol, which is an essential component
of this formula. Thymol has antiseptic and analgesic properties.

Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) The oil extracted from ginger is very precious for the well being of mankind. It is often used in traditional medicine to reduce inflammation. Research has now proved that its anti-inflammatory properties can be attributed to the presence of the substance named Zingibain. It is analgesic
in nature and reduces pain caused by muscle aches, arthritis and rheumatisms.

St John Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is another component of this herbal preparation which contains hypericin with anti-inflammatory properties. This wonderful red oil has been used historically to soothe sunburn and relieve
nerve pain relating to repetitive motion injuries, strains and shingles. Infused from the blossoms at just the right stage, this infused oil has a characteristic red color. Anti-inflammatory, particularly soothing to inflamed nerves, helpful for cases of neuralgia, sciatica and fibrositis. Effective on sprains, burns and bruises.

Wintergreen Oil (Gaultheria procumbens) has a history of use as a pain reliever. Oil of wintergreen has chemical properties similar to salicylic acid- an aspirin like compound with arthritis pain relief properties.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) Lovely, fragrant and relaxing and uplifting! In general, Lavender is used to relax muscle spasms anywhere in the body, and to relax the body in the presence of pain.

Eucalyptus (E. globules) Eucalyptus essential oil reduces pain, spasms and inflammation. It is used to treat muscular aches and pains, strains, sprains, and other traumatic injuries of the muscles, ligaments and tendons.
Many chronic pain and degenerative conditions stem from poor circulation. Eucalyptus oil is a natural vaso-dilator opening your blood vessels and increasing circulation to promote the healing process of the body for natural pain
relief. It also helps to reduce nerve inflammation and pain and is useful for the treatment of the various kinds of neuralgia such as sciatica.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) It is a complex botanical, containing over 240 medicinally and nutritionally active compounds! Rosemary increases warmth and stimulates blood circulation when applied externally. This property helps relieve cold feet, tired legs, weak limbs, sore muscles, arthritis, rheumatic pain and gout. Acting through the skin as a detoxifying agent, Rosemary helps to rid the body of harmful toxins and aid in the treatment of cellulite.

Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) is readily absorbed through the skin and produces a feeling of cooling and acts as slight local aesthetic. Camphor Oil is an agent that helps ease bruises, inflammation, and joint pains.
